I think you should think of what it is that Altena has been doing for the last few months (about, three months?) and why it was keeping her away from the castle.

Maybe after the shapeshifter Ayawamat took Mawt to find Its long lost shifter, Mamoru took Altena to safety, where they were called to go and do the whatever thing.

Then, finally, Ayawamat (Mat) is able to send a message with one of his pack to Lady Altena. Mat works for Altena's family and they are not as nice to their shapeshifters as she is to Mamoru, but he was able to get Altena the message that Mat lied to her family, Mawt's friend was not dead, the two of them are alive and well in the castle, but Zephir is dead.

Then from that it would make sense that the cute little vamp might want to go back and see Mawt, especially after hearing that Zephir is dead >X3
