Well, so long as it doesn't have to be about autumn, seems like a good way to practice. Didn't expect to be mentioned in something like this, but may give it a try if I get the time. Though it is a very short story, and making things short enough is often as much challenge as writing something longer.
It doesn't matter how undignified the means, if you get the results, and don't compromise on your morals.

I'm not sure how you'd do that if it isn't about autumn, but autumn does not need to be the main emphasis of the short story or poem. It's Only a Harvest Moon Like Embers in color and manner the leaves fall from their trees As we sit around a cozy blaze sipping Autumnal teas. Clove and cinnamon, Smoke and Cider A tune plucked out as we sit by the fire. And then we raise glasses, and the dead are toasted. then marshmallows on skewers made golden and roasted. Wrapped tight in our hoodies, the night draws on. The fire burns lower as we watch for the dawn. A harvest moon falls lower in the sky Shimmering orange like a faded sunrise Behind us, The dawn breaks, shattering into color Opulent oranges and reds with hues like no other. A beautiful backdrop to an autumn scene Of leaves falling, and friends quite keen.
@Charles_Dyer I like you poem, a great start. But do you have a title in mind for it?
Ewwwww Titles Consider it fixified.
