      Re: The Netflix Thread

Netflix did start off well with a lot of the classic animes, as you could find FullMetal, Bebop and Fairytale, but a lot of new anime is starting to make it's way over in 2018 which is a good sign. Devilman, Your Name and Kokkoko to name a few. Castlevania series 2 should be here shortly as well. Still hoping for a JoJo appearance at some point so I can binge it from the beginning.

More great news over the next month with the return of both Luke Cage and GLOW season 2s. I really enjoyed the latter on it's first run. Another original that just found a niche that worked.

Plus Sense8 finishes up in a couple of weeks, so there will be a whole boxset of that to get through.

Glow season two will be epic, luke cage has a lot to make up for after his first season. But both are exciting to see along with the last kingdom in the coming months

      On 13 Reasons Why :

I’m glad they finally added something to the beginning of the first episode of the second season as a sort of “trigger warning” for the people that do watch the show and have a sort of trigger from it.

Honestly they should have done that with the first episode of the first season but eh. Improvement

      Re: The Netflix Thread

Me too, I think they learnt their lesson from last season. They also have a link to a support website at the end of every episode which is good. I have to say I'm not feeling this season as much. I did worry about how they would go about the second season and it's not really living up to the expectation IMO.

      Re: The Netflix Thread

Netflix original films definitely still have a way to go (when they're not all Adam Sandler and pals), but once every often one comes around that you wish was a tv series or had a sequel. That was Cargo for me. A brilliant zombie survival film that hit all of the emotional buttons.

I can understand though why original Netflix films are few and far between, with all the controversies of them buying some films before they go to the cinema to show on Netflix instead. I remember when the first few Netflix films got trailed at conventions and actually received boos from the audience. It's a tough market to break into.

The Last Kingdom was great on BBC2, glad they put it on Netflix for more people to see. That and Peaky Blinders have been some of the finer BBC stalwarts over the years. I agree on Luke Cage too, it seemed like he was just hanging about waiting for something to do in the first series (probably as more focus was put on Jessica Jones, and his series was only to lead up to Defenders, like Iron Fist's was). Though he's actually got a proper villain now in Bushmaster, so it hopefully should be on track with Daredevil and Punisher for me.

      Re: The Netflix Thread

I hear 13 Reasons caused so much outrage with that Season 2 finale that censorship watchdogs are trying to get it canceled before any Season 3 can take place.

Speaking of outrage culture, there seems to be a boycott in place from some areas because the Obamas made a deal with Netflix to make some shows for them, including documentaries and a drama. In other news, Netflix is recording record high intake, becoming more profitable than Disney studios for a brief period. Would you cancel your subscription to somewhere based off of politics or particular individuals involved?

      Re: The Netflix Thread

Yeah I read that as soon as I had watched the last episode, I read up loads on it. Without spoiling it the director has defended the scene by saying it's very underrepresented and it's better to be showing it and discussing it than staying quiet.

Hmm I don't think I would unsubscribe. If it's still giving me content I want to watch I just don't have to watch the stuff made by politicians or individuals I don't agree with.
