Well to be fair (from what little I know which is VERY little) about engines, if you use a older engine to try and support newer graphics, just in the last couple of years for example you're going to have problems a lot of the time, also considering the FF fan base tends to love the latest in graphic tech I'd say it's a reasonable if risky investment finance wise. But again I know very little about it all. ^^

I didn't realise there was talk of releasing them episodically! Not going to lie, that does put me off just a little bit. I understand and appreciate the financial reasons for doing so but a game like FF7 and the magnitude of it, it just needs to be released as a complete project. Time will tell I guess...!
