minecraft has the potential to be popular for a loooooooooong time it was still semi-popular even in beta when notch was still lead (and it was buggy and a mess and slow and ate memory like nobody's business)

Minecraft won't die out tbh, there's a lot of streamers giving the creators content to continue going. Also yes, I agree with Minecraft being better than Fortnite. The next update for Minecraft if I recall is a combat type, new enchantments etc.

It's mostly due to the amount of imagination people can come up with, whatever build you want to do whether that's a dream house or particular mod the enhances the gameplay. It does get boring after a while but as stated, it's to trigger imagination.
