I've been helping out on a prison server that's about to launch soon, setting up the various mines to sell the ores. I get pulled into a lot of setups, mostly the grunt work.

You get a pick and a plot, and you start at the bottom where you can mine the essentials - stone, cobble, coal, etc. A separate mine has various wood logs all jumbled in, so you can get wood, just not the saplings. You sell what you dig, and when you make enough, you can rank up and go to another mine where there's more of the good stuff. You really want to work up the ladder to Diamond. The whole purpose is to buy your freedom. They want people to advance after filling their inventory about 2 -3 times, and I've fixed the block prices for three loads of 27 stacks. Plots give you a place to set up, make better gear, etc. Supplies are either brought in from the mines, traded for, or grown on site. Not sure what happens when you buy yourself out at Z. These guys also have an Egyptian-themed Survival and a Skyblock.
Oh that's really creative sounds fun
I was mining to get an idea of what the mix was like, but as they had to op me so I could do the price fixing, I would sometimes break the sides of the mines. So I started digging them out from the middle and gave myself a buffer zone.
A wise move, can't be too careful after all when it comes to these things!
