I like "your brain on X" stuff.

Most of these kinds of things are bullshit.

I always check the sources when seeing something like that. They usually say something different or even contradict what has been said.

I haven't checked this one yet.

EDIT: I've checked the claim about the male vs female gamers and it seems to make some sense. But if I understand things correctly, it seems to be driven by testosterone, so it's maybe not about male/female distinction directly but probably more about the testosterone level (males having more, females less, in general, but there is also some variation within sexes). More info here: https://www.animeleague.net/forum/sh...=1#post4832872

Or alternatively, it might be more socially acceptable for male players to gain space. I've checked and the mesocorticolimbic system of the brain is just a general reward system. So it's activated by things which give people pleasure. If something is not "normal" for your gender you might feel uncomfortable doing it and it might produce stress and give you less pleasure as a consequence, so the mesolimbic system might get less activated.

And also consider neuroplasticity. If males played different games from females (e.g. which had the concept of gaining more space) in the past maybe their brains adjusted to playing such games by activating the reward system more for these kinds.

I have no idea which of these possible explanations is correct, but the oversimplified explanation in the infographic suggests there's an easy answer. Nope.

By doing a quick search I was able to generate 3 different hypotheses, none of them directly related to sex. One indirectly related (hormone levels), and the other two related to gender, not sex.

I'm pretty sure @HentaiSenpai activates his mesocorticolimbic system often.

      Hentai being the main activator!

I like your image, I'm trying to think what effects it has on myself. I would certainly say there is a ceritonin increase and defo a lack of empathy after playing for extended periods of time. Interesting.
