Deciding on the first manga to read.

I've been talking to some AL friends about starting to read manga but I'm not sure which manga I should pick up first. What would you all recommend and why?

Hana Kimi
- the best genre for manga is shoujo
- Hana Kimi is extremely popular because it's really good while appealing to a wide audience

20th Century Boys
- maybe the best manga that's not shoujo
- very good story that never made it to anime

I haven't read a lot of manga. But I find this to be true.

You can try Nana. It's about two girls named Nana who meet and end up living together. They are complete opposites. Despite that, they become good friends.

Hana Kimi is good too. Although I've only watched some of the drama.
